I may have something of interest to you and I am hoping that we have a direct connection!
I have census information on 2 Cawthra families and either one could be your connection.
1861 :-
At 45 Catherine Slack
John Cawthra aged 48 coal miner(b.Northowram)
Eliza (wife) aged 42
Joseph (son) aged 21 coal miner
John (son) aged 16 coal miner
Eli (son) aged 12 coal miner
James (son) aged 8 scholar

The other family also 1861 :-
At 55 Mountain
Betty Cawthera (head) married age 33 (b.Ovenden) washer woman
Martha Ann (daughter) age 12 spinner at mill
Thomas (son) age 10 employed at coal pit
James (son) age 7
Joseph (son) age 4
Sidney (son) age 1

Betty Cawthera (nee Hoyle) was my great grandmother and James was my great uncle.
Betty was married to John Cawthera at Halifax parish church on 26th Jan 1846.
If any of this info is helpful please let me know, I may be able to help you further and vice versa of course...

ttfn
Jenny.
