Cawthras in Toronto, late 1800's

Hi all Cawthra's: I am doing some research for a friend who carries the middle name 'Cawthra'. Being from Toronto area, I am familiar with the name. He was named after his grandmother's family (I think). Someone in this Cawthra family married (at least so the lore goes), the builder or the architect of Casa Loma, the castle-like home in Toronto, built for Sir Henry Pellatt,in the late 1800's. Now, I know that the architect was E. Lennox, and the builder, I think, was a Gearing, but I can find no info about their families. Does anyone have some info on this? I also know that a daughter of the Archer family, the wife of whom was sister to Mrs. Austin, (her husband was an intimate of the Pellatt family, and he actually built around the site of Casa Loma), married a Cawthra. I'm wondering if this is where the confusion comes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
