Giovanni Cella - Philadelphia
Giovanni Cella came from the Province of Genova.I have found him (as John Cella) in the 1890 Philadelphia City directory. He was a fruit vendor and lived on Hide's Ct.I assume he is my Cella because family lore has him selling fruit. He might have returned to Italy to marry. His daughter, Rosa Maria, was born in Rezzoglio, Province of Genova, in 1892 and came to Philadelphia as a baby.In Philadelphia, She married Michael Lawrence Biondo, son of Lawrence Biondo of Nicosia, Enna Sicily. They had one daughter, Dorothy.
Giovani Cella had four sons - Louis aka Pete, Rudolph (had a daughter Louise), Victor (had a daughter Ruth) and Joseph.I don’t know if the Cella brothers they were born in Italy or Philladelphia.Family lore says that the Cellas went back and forth to Italy several times.Apparently, they were never in town during a census.
Does this ring any bells with anyone?
