George Ruben McFarlin, known by family member as Jigg. Light skin africa american, born the year 1930 in Welch Alabama. He walked with a limp because of a deformity to one of his legs, it was about two inches shorter than the other and more than likely he wears a builded up shoe. He has five brothers and five sisters. His mother name was Ollie Thompson McFarlin, her mother was Pearl Allen and her father was Lucus Smedley. George Ruben's father was George Washington McFarlin, his mother was Julie Morgan and his father was Ed McFarlin. George Ruben's five brothers names are Charles, John Hal, Prince (Bo), Eddie (Eck) and Peter who died when he was a baby. His sisters names are Julia Pearl, Carrie Lee, Martha James, Luelia and Beatrice. He worked at a place in LaGrange Ga. called Trammell Hardwood Flooring. He left Welch Alabama and moved to Alex City Alabama and from there to Tuskegee Alabama where he took medical training. His first operation during his training was on a baby's head that had died. He worked doing his training at the John Andrews Hospital in Tuskegee Alabama. My uncle left Tuskegee Alabama in 1950 or 1951 with a doctor from Tuskegee headed to New York. His mother died in Nov. 1952, he came home for the funeral and a few days later left going back to New York. In 1953 he wrote my grandfather a letter to let him know that he was on his way to Japan, no one has heard from his since. A few years back a man came to Welch Alabama looking for some of his father's people. He said that he was George McFarlin's son. He was driving an eighteen wheeler or moving van. I don't know if this is the son of my uncle or not, but it's the only posible imformation I have heard that George Ruben (Jigg) may have had a family... If you know of my uncle or a wife or any kids he may have, please e-mail me at lross@knology.net Sincerly, Linda McFarlin Ross |
