Herman Alonzo Keeton, 86, died May 7, 2009, at Crown Health Care & Rehabilitation in Montgomery, Ala. He was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Red Bay, Ala., to Harrison Lonzo and Lola Mae Bostick Keeton. He was a business owner and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Red Bay.

Survivors included two daughters, Connie Popp (Jim) of Auburn, Ala., and Nancy Long of Montgomery, Ala.; three grandchildren, Sid Dassinger (Mary Lewis) of Little Rock, Ark., Barton Dassinger (Michelle) of Chicago and Bobby Long (Felicia) of Montgomery; and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Keeton Grisham of Athens, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Timbes Elledge Keeton; his parents; an infant daughter; a sister, Sarah Keeton Cobb; and a brother, William Hoyt Keeton.
