Frederick Ashman (my husband's great grandfather) was christened Xmas Day 1821 at St. James' Church Bath, & his parents then lived at Peter Street. He married (1) Eliza Bath, 1847, Bath; (2) Margaret Jones, 1875, Auckland, N.Z. He emigrated to N.Z. with Margaret in 1858. He was a tailor by profession, & died at Thames, N.Z. in 1909. We are working on his story, & the stories of his 2 children by Eliza (who came to N.Z.), and of his 8 children by Margaret.
We would be delighted to make contact with other descendants of his parents Thomas (b. ca.1797) & Mary (b. ca.1799), who also had children Henry, Ann, Susannah, Mary & Jane (all christened between 1825 & 1832 at Parish of Lyncombe & Widcombe, & over that time were living at Barton Place, Holloway or Prior Park Place) and Thomas b. ca. 1833. In 1851 Thomas & Mary lived with 3 of their children at 24 Clarendon Buildings, Thomas being a tailor & Mary a shoe binder.
