To both Bill and Dell There was a George Askin listed in Shenston's census in the Woodstock, Toronto, Ontario,Canada list which named George and Ebenezer Askin as having lived on W.Dundas St in Woodstock. Ebenezer should have been listed as Ebenezer Askins(notice the "s" at the end) Ebenezer was my great grandmother's father. She married John H. Askin in Kalamazoo, Mich in the early 1800's. Her name was Sarah Askins. Several of the Askin family were from either Scotland or Ireland. The name Askin is derived from the Name Erskine. Erskine roughly translated means either kin of the Irish(Erse) or friends of the Irish.
The Erskine name was changed do to the politics at the time in the late 1600's to early 1700's.
Many of the Askin/Erskine line came onto this continent through Canada.
I hope this info will help your research.
