I would like to clarify the Bouldin/Bolin/Bowling family's of Warren and Grundy Counties, Tennesee.
There seems to have been two family's of similar names that arrived in the generala rea at about teh same tme. The first was Noble Bouldin, and he settled along Hills Creek. The name of his wife is UNKNOWN! It is NOT Temperence, as most people have been led to beleive. Noble Bouldin's wife died before the 1830 census, per the church records of Warren County. If you would like to verify this, please contact the genealogy department at the Magness library in McMinnville.
The Temperence Bouldin that is listed on the 1830 census is the widow of Lewis Nathan Bolin. They were married in Cabbarus County, North Carolina in 1799. She lived father south than Noble Bouldin, near the Tarleton community. Land records show she lived by her son, David Bouldin/Bolin, Bowling. This is in what became Grundy County. Her daughter, Comfort Bolin/Bouldin, is my ancestor, and she married Stephen Cope.
Because of the similar name spellings, this has caused a lot of confusion between the families.
