I understand James (canal) Brindley's brother Joseph was manager of the Cheadle Brass Company (also known as Alton Wire Mill or Patten's Mill) till he died in 1820. John Brindley (his son?) was made redundant in 1828, but brcame a color (paint) manufacturer till 1834. I also heard he committed suicide. Anyone have any more info on him and/or other Brindleys in and around mills in Alton/Farley? Thanks!! Mary |
