Clark Thornton, I received this same inquery from J.C. Bell this evening. The following was my reply to him. Hugh W. Busey __________________________________________ Dear J.C. Bell, I have no direct primary evidence regards Hezekiah or Susanna Busey/Bussey or Alexander Magruder. I can, however, point you to the Prince Georges County Genealogical Society Bulletin of April 1979 article written by Donald L. Wilson entitled "The Bussey (Busey) Families of Maryland". On pages 6, 7, and 8 these names are discussed. I will quote one passage that may help put the state of this documentation into perspective. As with all references of this sort, use them guides only and obtain your own primary documents. This is particularly true with this document as we have seen some questionable assumptions and assertations. "17. SUSANNA BUSEY, [note the single "S" {HwB}] (apparently daughter of Hezekiah Bussey (5)) married ca 1715, as his second wife, ALEXANDER MAGRUDER II (1673-1746). This assertion, made in a pedigree of the Magruder family, is not proved, but seems reasonable, judging from the fact that Magruder was administrator for Hezekiah Bussey's estate, 1715, and that Magruder's children were named Ann, Alexander II (1716-1799), Elizaberth, Sarah, Priscilla, and Hezekiah.43" The Hezekiah referenced here was the son of the original George and Ann (Keene) Bussey. There has been discourse earlier in this forum and elsewhere concerning the possible relationship, if any, between the Bussey and Busey familes. I have documents indicating that George Bussey and Paul Busey were neighbors and known to each other but have no proof that they were in anyway related. If you wish the other passages in this article, perhaps it would be best to fax them to you. Or you can order a copy directly from the Society. Hugh W. Busey 8th Great Grandson of Paul(1) Busey |
