Trying to figure how Jacob H. Clum fits into the early Clum picture. Our family has a letter dated May of 1811 written to Jacob H. of Clermont, by "Edw. Livingston," saying that he (Edw.) is enclosing the $8 Jacob requested, concluding with some words of consolation over an accident that happened to one of Jacob's children.

Jacob and his wife, Elisabeth Shultes, had 10 children, I believe, one of whom is my GGgrandmother, Margaret Clum (1822-1897), who married Henry Summers Banks in Palmyra, Chemung Co., was widowed, then married Nelson King in Elmira, Chemung Co.

Jacob and his son Ferdinand moved to Walworth, Wayne Co., NY, and both are buried in Walworth Cemetery, along with Margaret and other Clums and Banks family members.

According to the tombstones, Jacob H. died in Sept. 1854. Ferdinand's dates are 1819-1910 (christened Dainfort Ferdinand, I believe).

Clermont, 1811 is the earliest date and place I have confirmed for Jacob H. Can someone fit him into the very confusing Clum picture? At least he's not another danged Phillip...
