On the 1850 Wayne Co TN census is a James Cunningham 18 living with Joseph T Phillips, a Franklin Cunningham 17 living with A T Phillips and a Jordan Cunningham 15 living with David Phillips.
On the 1860 census is a William Cunningham 22 living with Josiah Darby.
From Wayne Co Court record of Feb and March 1849, Jordan Cunningham is listed as being born 30 Jan 1836 with his older brother being born abt 1834, so I'm presuming this is the John Franklin Cunningham to whom you're referring.
These people are living in the same general area of southern middle Wayne Co so it looks as if there was a large family of Phillips at that time. There were Phillips and Cunningham family located farther north in the county that could or could not be related. I suspect not.
I also am searching for the parents of this Cunningham family.
On the 1840 census is a Patsy Cunningham. I don't know if she or another Noah Cunningham have anything to do with these children.
I do not know about the Phillips or Cunningham families here but am in a position to search records in Wayne Co.
I did not see in Court records where William or James were farmed out but much of the records have not been transcribed and all records are lost for this court before abt 1848. Would like to communicate with you about John Franklin Cunningham's family after he left Wayne Co.
