Almost all with the name Curts were originally spelled Kurtz. Some changed it to Curts, Kirts, Kurts. From what I have researched there are basically two Kurtz families that came early (1700's). Both of them were in Pennsylvania. One family left and went to Kentucky. One of his son's Conrad (Kurtz) Curts Jr. moved up to Harrison Co, Indiana and Brown Co, Indiana, maybe other places. The other Kurtz family stayed in Pennsylvania for some time before they started migrating into Ohio and Indiana. The two Kurtz families do not seem to be related. I don't know which family your ancestors are from, it would take more research.
Good luck, Beverly Sweeney
