Ellen: Thank you so much for information. Oscar "the Ox" died in Yorktown, Texas around or on April 22, 1951- seems to have died relatively young and barely missed his 50th year. My great great great grandfather was Theodore Eckhardt and his wife was Mary Grimes Eckhardt- from Prussia and Bavaria. They are in New Orleans in the late 1840s for sure and then come to Nashville in the 1850s. I will give you more details when I look at my file at home. Theodore and Mary had a number of children. Some of them were Louis, Cloud, Charles (my great great grandfather)(d.1883), Henry. My grandfather was Andrew Eckhardt (d.1947?) and my grandfather Charles Leo (1907-88). Again, thank you for help. Oscar is mentioned in some baseball encyclopedias. He "came up for a cup of coffee" (old baseball expression to speak of coming up to major league for a short time) with the Boston Braves (now Atlanta formerly Milwaukee) and the Brooklyn (now Los Angeles) Dodgers. But he was famous in Pacific Coast League- had a lifetime average of .367. I'll stop boring you with this but let me say "thanks" for you help.
