From a book on Isle of Wight (Virginia) County Deeds, by William Lindsay Hopkins: 23 July 1744 - Gerard Robert Ellyson of Suffolk Parish, Nansemond Co., son and heir of John Ellyson, decd., of same, to Ralph Carter of Newport Parish in Isle of Wight...230 acres in Nottoway Parish near Nottoway River (being a patent granted Samuel Boazman on 28 Feb. 1733 and assigned to John Ellyson...)...signed by Gerard Robert Ellyson and witnessed by Peter Kelly, John (X)) Godwin and Thomas Whitley. Recorded 23 July 1744. This John Ellyson is apparently the son of that name in the 1727 will of Anne Myhill Ellyson, as she left property in Nansemond County to him. Does anyone have any other information on his son, this Gerard Robert Ellyson?
