Peter Gahagan was also my maternal great great grandfather. He died in 1877 and is buried in St.Paul(formerly Osage Mission),Neosho county, Kansas. Most of what I know comes from Neosho County records and newspaper archives and the 1870 census which led to Bloomington and LeRoy post office, West Township, McLean county Illinois. The McLean County Museum of History has the cemetery records for St.Mary's cemetery(pages 82-83) which were very helpful and informative. McLean County Circuit Clerk's office also has some helpful probate records for Peter's brothers Patrick and James. They also have Peter's declaration of intent (1860) and final order (1865) for citizenship. Your information from Mary's death certificate is the first indication I have for Peter's birthplace in Queens county Ireland. I would be glad to exchange family stories from great uncles and believe we have family photo from a visit Mary made to visit my great grandfather, James and his wife Jane in St.Paul Kansas (early 1900's)
