If you are near a good genealogy library, you need to look for the book The Garlington Family by Thesta Scogland. It was published in 1976 by Gateway Press Inc, Baltimore. On page 575 you will find information about Thomas C. Garlington who married Elizabeth Gertrude (Bess) Houghton. According to the book, Thomas was born Oct. 13, 1856 in Calcasieu Parish, LA and died March 7, 1909 at La Junta, Colorado. They are buried next to each other in La Junta. They had no issue. However, they adopted the son and daughter of Bess' sister. The children were Elizabeth Gertrude (Irwin) Garlington born Aug. 19, 1892 and Lea Frank (Irwin) Garlington born Oct. 14, 1894 at Watrus, New Mexico. The girl married Fred Townsend. No offspring is listed for this couple. Lea married Hazel Ena Lee. One child is listed, Edward Lee Garlington. He had three children, all born in La Junta, CO.
Thomas and Elizabeth were married about 1890/91 at Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was born May 10, 1867 in Franklin,Texas. The ancestors of Thomas are provided in the book back to England in the 1200s. Too much to write here. But briefly, Thomas was the son of William H. C. Garlington who was the son of James Garlington and Sarah Jones. James was the first born son of Christopher Garlington V and Sarah Young of South Carolina. There is a lot of information on each of these older generations and some photos. I hope this is of some help.
