Help Needed from the Gavin Forum:

We have been searching for the ancestors of Edward Jiggs Gavin, my wife's grandfather and have hit what seems like an "impenetrable brick wall." We know that he died in Harris County Texas on July 31, 1929. We believe that he was born in a northern state, possibly Minnesota, Michigan or Wisconsin in the 1875 to 1885 time frame, but these locations are pure speculation. He was my wife's mother's father. He died when she was about 3 1/2 years old, so she knows virtually nothing about him. He had been married once before marrying my wife's grandmother and had three children by that first marriage.
The names of the children were Dorothy, Opal and Rae Gavin. These are in no particular order. First wife's name is unknown. He married Alice Marie Tinar, who was abt. 16 years old at the time, in abt. 1923-24. He probably was twice to three times her age at the time of the wedding. Her mother believes that he was in vaudeville or the theater, but this is very vague.
If anyone out there has any information that might help us uncover the history of Edward Jiggs Gavin, please let us know. Thanks for any assistance.
