I think the Gerrards of Bryn (in Lancashire, England is the family line you are looking for. (Chaigley is situated just north of Blackburn in Lancashire and Bryn and surounding area of WIGAN was (and still is) the seat of the Gerrard dynesty who were the Norman Barons who came with William the Conqueror, from France and prior to that Florence, italy.

Gherardini -Fitzgerald-Gerard Via Windsor (england), Pembrokshire (Wales and Ireland) to north Cheshire/Lancashire border, before heading to Buckinghamshire and Maryland (USA)
They were a wealthy Catholic family in a time when Catholics were persecuted in England. Good luck!
