Hi Amanda,

I wrote to the two Guilinger's that have helped me out so much with my Guilinger line and ask them about your Gilinger. They said that John A. Guilinger sometimes spelled his name Gilinger. John A. had a son named Willima b. 1811 d. 1889. He had a son named Sylvester Gilinger that d. 1925. Maybe Sylvester's middle name was Benjamin? This Sylvester d. in Montgomery Co., PA and is buried in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Barren Hill, a few miles east of Conshohocken, Montgomery Co., PA. They suggest you check the church burial records for Sylvester/Benjamin ? Gilinger's full name Also check 1900/1910/1920 census records of Montgomery Co., PA for info on Sylvester/Benjamin Guilinger/Gilinger.

The Theodore Gilinger you mentioned could also be brother to William and the son of John A. Gilinger. John A. Gilinger did have a son name Jeremiah who served in the Civil War. The Andrew Gilinger you mentioned as enlisting in the Civil War is the son of John A. Gilinger.

Hope you can make since of this and it helps you out some. You maybe looking for the same Guilinger's as I am, you are just from the branch that changed the spelling to Gilinger.

Marie
