I have a bit of information to add to this discussion that may make it even more confusing.
I am trying to determing who the Esther Gleave (Gleves) is that married my ancestor John Crozier. In searching I have found the following info -
There was an Esther Gleave and her sister Rachel who married brothers John Crozer b: 1703 and James Crozer b: 1710 who came from France via Scotland and Ireland in 1723. (From "Colonial Families of Philadelphia" by John W, Jordan)
These girls were the daughters of John Gleave and Elizabeth Harry. Rachel b: 1710 m: James Crozer in 1737 and d: 1792
Esther b: unknown m: John Crozer in 1730. The Crozer brothers were Presbyterian.
Then I have another Esther GLEVES, dauthter of John Gleves and Frances Blane. She was b: 18 May 1731 in Springfield PA. and m: John Crozier 10 Jun 1762 d: 1793 in Upton, Franklin PA
This John Crozier (b: 1706 in Burlington NJ d: 1799 in Upton) was the son of John Crozier b: 1665 in Black Horse Valley NJ and m: Jane Thomas 1679 d: 1736 in Black Horse Valley NJ.
John was apparently 26 years older than her and they may have had a son John Crozier b: 1770 in Pittsburg.
I would very much like to figure out if one of these ladies is indeed my ancestor. I have to tie them to a William Crozier who was b: 1796 in Pittsburg, m: Isabel Cooper.
