Hi Jane

It sure looks like you've found the right family in England. Aside from the Census data that you posted, I also have the following regarding this family:

Marriage notices for Ann Glue/Glew:

17 February 1847 - In this city on the 13th inst., John Snowball & Ann, eldest daughter of John Glue, both of Markham. (Rev. J. Carroll)

February 13 1847 John Snowball to Ann Glue, both of Markham, married in Toronto in the prescence of Thos Brown and Mary Glue - by licence

These marriages could also be related to our Glew family:

10 March 1869 - Thomas Glew, 27, of Vaughn, B Eng of John and Lydia, and Margaret McBride, 20, York of John and Sarah
(Note: The John Glew that appears on the 1881 census in Wellesley with Lydia appears to be the same age as our John but is listed as a farmer)

7 December 1869 - Adam Einsminger, 24, Markham Twp, B Buffalo, NY of Philip and Rachel, and Charlotte Glew, B Markham of John and Nancy

Inscription from headstone of Ann (Glue) Snowball, from the cemetery on Kennedy Rd., Unionville, Ontario:

Snowball Ann Mrs. Died 3 Aug 1874 age 46 years, wife of John Snowball.

It may be significant that the name of John and Ann's firstborn was Mary.

I have more data on the Snowballs if you are interested. My connection to the Glew family is as follows: John Snowball and Ann Glew had a son named John, who had a daughter named Eva (my paternal grandmother).

Regards,
Mike in Ontario
