A gravestone I came across on a hill in Tuscarora, NY seems to belong to a Greeno. It reads:
Hiram B., son of Calvin and Mary Greeno, died April 7, 1860, aged 1 yr, 10 m's, and 6 d's.

The epitaph at the bottom reads:
This lovely bud was nipt so soon to rise and bloom beyond the tomb.

I thought someone from the Greeno/Greenough lineage might be interested to know about this sudden find, and after a little research, I learned that Calvin Greenough certainly lived in Troy, NY for a time but then disappeared after the late 1840's. As it turns out, he must have lived in or near Tuscarora. I could not find any record of this particular Hiram Greeno, but it seems there were more than one Hiram, and with this one dying so young, I suspect he was simply too young to be listed, especially during a time in which his parents seemed to disappear off the tax and census map for a while.

Even more interestingly enough, one of Hiram's sisters, Susan Mary Greenough, married Randolph Ward, a family into which I myself have recently married. If anyone has any more information on Calvin and Mary, or more information about any of their children, I would be very interested to hear it.

When the snow melts I may have more gravestones to research, and I'll be back with an update if I find any more relation to this genealogy. :)
