It's been fun helping you solve your mystery, though I didn't do much. This page from the British Columbia Archives http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-5642C1E/view/Marriages/find-adv%2B%20(givennames%20%3D%20david)%20AND%20(surname%20%3D%20grobe)%20%2B%2B%2B%2B/1
shows the marriage of your grandparents, I am quite certain. You can order a copy of the record, I believe.
Vital Event Marriage Registration
Groom Name: David E Grobe
Bride Name: Sarah Jane Mcleod
Event Date: 1901 1 15 (Yr/Mo/Day)
Event Place: Ymir
Reg. Number: 1901-09-144827
B.C. Archives Microfilm Number: B11384
GSU Microfilm Number: 1983977
They stayed put for many years in Ymir, apparently. Marrying in 1901, one would think that David, born 1909, was not their very first child.
Good luck in your search for more information!
