I am trying to locate information on my Hulen ancestors. My great grandfather was Earl R. Hulen, born in Schuyler Co, MO in 1885; his father was James Franklin Hulen born in Schuyler Co, MO in 1862; his father was John Hulen born in KY?; his father was William Hulen who married Polly Swain in Estill Co, KY; his father was John Hulen who married Peggy Taylor, he died in 1804 in KY; his father was William Hulen who died in NC in 1785. I believe that the William George Hulen that was born 20 Jan 17322 in Bristol Parish, VA and died in Wilkes Co, NC in 1785 may be the William Hulen in my line. I am also trying to locate previous ancestors. My grandmother told me that there were seven Hulen brothers that emmigrated to America from France. Some of them stayed in the east, and some went west to California. They were Huguenots. I do not know if they first went to England, as did other Huguenot refugees, and then emmigrated to America, or if they came to America directly from France. One of the family members that were interviewed by a cousin of mine, thought that they had emmigrated directly to South Carolina; however, my research shows that there were many Huguenot emmigrants who first came to Virginia and then went to Wilkes Co, NC and established a colony there.
If you have information of the descendants of your William Hulen, perhaps you could let me know if it is a correct link, or if I am on the wrong track. I would greatly appreciate any information that you can give me.
