Carol, I too would appreciate a copy of that letter. Debbie Harris sent me a p. 1 typed copy of it. I believe that the "Cahan" referred in the letter should be Laban. I am a descendant of David, through Frederick H. & Amelia Garner Linebarger. I know that Roxanna Stroup Linebarger (David's second wife) is buried in the Lawson Stroup Cemetery in Gaston Co., NC. Her tombstone has her date of death as d. 23 May 1877. However, she is still showing on the 1880 census. Any thoughts on this? In addition, her first-born, Susan E. is also buried there. Her dates are 1867-1872. I haven't found out anything about her second daughter, Saba S.
