I have a book called "Rocket of The Comstock" by Ethel Manter, 1950. This book has been around since before I was born. Several years ago I was going to get rid of it until I realized that it was signed to my father (an author). Thinking it might have some value, I kept it.

Just today, I started really looking through it and found that it contained, what I consider, valuable photos of some people...I should say, valuable to family historians, which I am.

There is a photo of John W. Mackay, the statue of John W. Mackay on the campus of the University of Nevada at Reno, a wedding photo of Mrs. John Mackay 1867, their homes, Marie-Louise Hungerford Mackay (her friends called her Louise or Louisa), and more.

What is contained in the text of the book, I do not know. There is no index. The book is mostly about John William Macay.

The reason I am writing to this forum is because I would like to help possible descendants of John William Mackay get these photos. I will scan them and email them to anyone who wants them.

When you contact me, please put JOHN MACKAY in subject line or I may delete the message. I get hundreds of messages a day.
