I live in Poland today, so I could help you in your search. Unfortunately I have not found the village Lustin, perhaps it is not spelled correctly. Where did you get this information? Are you sure this name? You're not sure spelling (Mantei or Montei). Do the same with the name of the town where he lived?
Map of Polish greatly changed in that period. There was Polish on maps before 1918. In the eighteenth century, was divided between the three occupants. After gaining independence in 1918 until World War II included the land now part of Russia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine. It is difficult to precisely define the search area. My primary knowledge of Russian might be useful.
In the U.S. there is a huge database of the German-speaking expatriate community from Russia: http://www.odessa3.org You might find something there. I found a lot of information about my father's nephews. There are microfilms of the declarations of German origin their family. The search is continuing now (because of the distance), my brother, who lives in Canada.
