Ada Marie Martens of Elgin Funeral services for Ada Marie Martens, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Calvary Lutheran Church of Elgin with the Rev. James Fandrey officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Harmony, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and from 10:15 a.m. until the time of services, Friday, at the church. Born Nov. 20, 1926, in Elgin, the daughter of Elmer and Alda Britton, she passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, in her home. Ada was a manager at the Elgin Mental Health Center Credit Union for many years prior to her retirement . She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was an avid bingo player. Ada will be dearly missed. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Elgin and the Ladies' Auxiliary of VFW Post #8043 of Hampshire, and member and past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #57 of Elgin. Survivors include her husband, Lavern "Marty" Martens of Elgin; her daughter, Laurie (Bruce) Boulton of Elgin; two grandchildren, Martin Ray "Marty" and Mallory Boulton; her brother, Elmer (Jean) Britton; two sisters, Anna Klein and Ollie (Larry) Mann; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Martens in 1998; and five brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to the family for a college education fund for her grandchildren, or the Calvary Lutheran Church. For information, 847-741-8800.
