Hello. I am new to this Matchett Family Genealogy Forum. My paternal gg grandfather was Richard Matchett, born about 1802 in Ireland, who married Charlotte Kenah/Kenna from the Isle of Man. Their son Richard, born in 1833 in Liverpool, was my g grandfather; he married Letitia Toes/Toyes, born in 1833 in ?Tartaraghan, Ireland, married in 1854. My grandfather was James Matchett, born in 1875 in Liverpool who married Mary Jane Wilkinson, born 1876 in Liverpool. My grandfather was also known as "Professor J.O. Matchett": he had over 1000 medals for long distance swimming and championships. He also performed high diving and stunt diving feats, e.g. high diving into the sea in a burning sack. I have a photo of one of his old posters and an old newspaper describing his incredible swimming feats. I have attempted to trace back to Alexander Matchett, born in Ireland in 1745, son of John Matchett & Susanna Moore. I can be reached at sevenmatchetts@hotmail.com. Thanks. Patricia Matchett
