The longer I study our family genealogy the more convinced
I am that genealogy is not an exact science. There are more
questions than answers. So, I'm beginning to believe
that Joseph's wife Elizabeth may have been the daughter of a a lesser known Hood father and mother who may have lived
in GA before Joseph and she were married. And they may have
been married at about the time they moved to MS in 1805
since their son Robert Newton was born in 1808 in MS.
Now given the year some of Joseph's daughters were married
in MS does suggest some may have been born in GA. And that
gives premise to my theory that Joseph may have been married to another woman and had some family before marriage to Elizabeth. I am applying some logic to this
theory as you may see. Sure wish those old timers kept
better records!
