Hi Roger :)

I am a direct descendant of Burnett Whiteside McWhinney who was also born in Killberry, Ireland about 1833. He married Mary Ann Louden in Ballyscullion in 1858 before emigrating to Australia and then on to New Zealand (can't find when yet). His father is listed as Arthur McWhinney on the marriage cert I received from Ireland. There's got to be a connection somewhere - the name Whiteside for a start! I remember being told by my great grandmother that Burnett's father Arthur worked on a sugar plantation in Jamaica and had slaves. Burnett Whiteside McWhinney is my great great great grandfather and he died in 1875 only aged 42 years and is buried in Waitehuna near Gabriels Gully (old gold mining town) in Central Otago. I have been trying to find a birth record for Burnett but no luck yet and would love to know about any siblings and his parents. I have recently been looking through jamaican family records and saw your ancestors there on a passenger list for the John Robinson. Nice to touch base - here's hoping we can help each other find out some more info :)
