Years ago I found Radtke (my grandmother's maiden name) in a dictionary of German surnames. Of course it was in German and I do not understand much of it. From what I can understand, the name first appears about 1290 and means zu Radolf or from Radolf. I have no idea where this would be except there is a note about it being in northern Germany. There also is an abbreviation "Pers. N." Not sure if if refers to Radolf as being a personal name (Rudolf) or what. Hope this helps with that dang name.
