Tillie (Sack) Katz, 96, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Jewish Healthcare Center.
She leaves her husband of 73 years, Michael Katz of the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence; a daughter, Ruth Berman, widow of Myron "Mike" Berman; a son, Jerome "Jerry" Katy and his wife, Danuta, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a sister, Janet Swedroe of NC; her grandchildren, Debra Berman Shear and her husband, Mark Shear, Rena Berman Bly and her husband, Douglas Bly, and Dr. Tammy Katy and her husband, Dr. Rahul Bhat of Washington, DC; and five great-granchildren, Erica and Alyssa Shear, Jocelyn and Courtney Bly, and Arjun Bhat; and her dear friend of over 70 years, Lillian Myers, who was a weekly visitor at the Jewish Healthcare Center. She was predeceased by her brother, Jacob Sack, and by her sister, Julie Sack.
She was born in Worcester and was a daughter of Isaac and Rose (Capelovich) Sack.
She was secretary to the executive director of Temple Emanue for many years before moving to Florida 30 years ago, returning to Worcester 2 years ago.
She was a Life Member of Worcester Chapter of Hadassah and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center. She was a former member of Beth Israel Synagogue and its Sisterhood, Temple Beth Am and its Sisterhood in Margate, FL and the City of Hope.
Many thanks to all the nurses and aides on the 3 South Wing of the Jewish Healthcare Center and the entire Hospice Team at the Jewish Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on SUNDAY, APRIL 25th in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Burial will be held in Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rabbi's Fund of Temple Sinai, 661 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609 or to the Jewish Home Hospice, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
Memorial observance will be announced at the time of the funeral.
