James, I would be really interested to hear from you. "My" Catharine (Elizabeth?) Schreckengast was married to John Gundrum. They are both buried in the Immanuel Cemetery near Clarksville, Lebanon Co. According to the cemetery records, her dates are June 21, 1783-24 August 1843 and his are 2 June 1776-23 March 1848. In the Gundrum Family file in the Lebanon Historical Society, I found copies of pages from a Gundrum family Bible which indicates they were married on 11 March 1800 and I have managed to piece together the names of their children.

In that same file there were references to the Schreckengast families I named in my posting and so I feel they are connected in some way, especially since Schreckengast is such an unusual name. (Apparently there is only one listing of that name in Germany now.)

Since I made the posting, I have gathered more information on the Schreckengasts and I feel her father might instead be Georg Heinrich Schreckengast and Elizabeth Gebhard, since her daughter Elizabeth married a Henry "Gephart". I believe Georg Heinrich's father was Johan Jost Jacob Schreckengast.

However, I am also puzzled by the fact that the death certificate for Henry Gundrum, (Catharine S. and John Gundrum's son), stated that they were both born in Germany and that does not really tie in with what I have been able to discover so far.

I would really appreciate hearing from you. I would be more than happy to share what I have gleaned so far and I would be so interested in knowing what you can tell me! Please feel free to email me. Beverley
