I suspect we are researching the same Myers family. William David Myers and wife Rainey Shoe had a son named Daniel but he was born in 1841 according to Giles County Tennessee Census for 1850. He would have been too young to be the Daniel Myers who married in 1845. The two Daniel Myers might have been related, possibly first cousins.
You are searching for the identity of Daniel Myers' parents. I am searching for the identity of Tempe D. Myers' parents. Daniel and Tempe were both born in Montgomery County North Carolina according to 1850 and 1860 census reports, likely the part of Montgomery County which became Stanly County in 1841. I wonder if they were related, possibly brother and sister.
Tempe [Tempie] D. Myers was born 1839 to 1840 and married Solomon Plummer in Cabarrus County, marriage bond dated 28 Dec. 1857. Daniel Myers married Nancy Almon in Cabarrus County, bond dated 31 May 1845.
Census reports for 1850 and 1860 showed Daniel Myers, wife Nancy and children living in Cabarrus County. Cabarrus census for 1870 showed Daniel Myers married to Martha. Daniel's children were in the household too. Cabarrus County Mortality Schedule for 1870 showed Nancy Myers, age 43, white married female died in April 1870 from pneumonia.
Question: What do you know about Daniel's second wife Martha? I am especially interested in knowing the marriage date, to be specific, I need to know the marriage year. The marriage year is critical and if I can get this matter resolved I will be able to tell you the names of Daniel Myers' parents. I still won't know the identity of Tempie Myers' parents but I will feel that I am making some progress.
You are probably aware that the surname Myers was spelled a number of ways including Moyer, Miers, Myres, Mires, Mayer and Mears.
There was a Daniel Miers residing in Cabarrus County who enlisted in the CSA on 22 February 1862 [7th Regiment Company B] at age 40. His son Julius Myers enlisted in the same regiment and company and died at Petersburg Virginia on 13 August 1864 from wounds. I presume this was father and son since Julius was shown on census as the son of Daniel and Nancy Myers. Solomon Plummer [husband of Tempe Myers] served in the same regiment and company with Daniel and Julius Myers. There was a Daniel Myers living in Cabarrus County in 1900 date of birth March 1822. Was this the Daniel Myers whose first wife was Nancy?
You noted that you have a photograph which was taken at a Myers family reunion. If you have names for any of the persons shown on the picture would you please send me a copy by email? Thanks.
