The above George Gibson was born 1732 County Cork Ireland came to Pennsylvania with his father, Robert Gibson who died in Augusta Co., Va., 1760. 'Major' George Gibson fought in the Revolution at Valley Forge and was also at Point Pleasant. His son Matthew was captured by Indians when he was young but returned in later years. See 'GIBSON STATON' in Lee County for more information on this George Gibson. While he was a nighbor of the 'dark skinned' Gibsons there is no known connection to any of those Gibsons.
