i am still working on the edward and hannah thew family of willington,co durham.the four eldest brothers were thomas william john luke
we know john went to NSW in 1876 with his family and that luke stayed all his life living in durham city with two of the sisters [elizabeth and isabella my gt g/mother.]
the other children, phoebe, hannah, and edward married locally.
thomas disappeared from the uk census after the 1851 census but re=appears in NSW in 1863 with his marriage to sarah thomas.
william is possibly on the uk 1861 census as living in elvet, durham married to jane and with two children mary thomas i still need to verify this.
however after 1861,there is no record of the family.
The criminal records [new on ANCESTRY.COM] show that a thomas thew was convicted at trial 24/02/1854 in durham and was imprisoned. this may be the key to his disappearance for 9 years.
The convict transportation prisoner lists do not show him and 1854 may be a bit late for this.
so,where was he and and how did he get to NSW.
also did his brother go with him.
Can someone fill these gaps for me.
