Hello Chadderdons,
My family is decended from a Seley Chadderdon that lived in Southern Michigan in the 1800s.He had quite a few children. We believe that Seley is the brother of Michael Chadderdon. We have seen Census records that show that Michael lived in Lenawee County, MI with his father, Lewis Chadderdon.
How do you know that Lewis Chadderdon died in New York?Is there a tombstone or public record? We know that Michael Chadderdon and his wife Polly Sandford lived in Wales, NY before coming to MI.Lewis and his wife Betsy lived with Michael in Michigan during the 1850 census. Is it possible that they were only there for a visit and returned to New York.
The Lenawee County census lists Lewis as being 94 years old. This seems to be too old to be the Lewis Chadderdon of the Revolutionary War who in the Pensioner book is listed as 71 in 1836.However, the census age could just be in error.
If you have any ideas, let me know
