Thank you for that, it is very interesting about the Irish entry. This could be why I have been unable to find out anything else about William. Any further information that you can provide would be very much appreciated - I have been looking for William, on and off for about 15 years! Just out of interest, John was my Great grandfather, he joined the Royal Navy and rose quite high in the ranks for someone who had been in the workhouse.
