On May 16, 1708, one Alvin Chalton carved his name and the date on the rocks at Lake Kejimkujik in Nova Scotia, Canada. These rocks are also decorated with petroglyphs carved by the local Mi'kmaq natives. Currently one of my graduate students is researching her thesis on the petroglyphs and it would be of some interest if anyone has any knowledge of who this individual was and what brought him to Nove Scotia.
