Nicholas Chalus came to American in 1910 aboard the Ship Rotterdam out of Rotterdam, Holland bound for the coal mines of Economy, Pennsylvania.
He was a Ukrainian living in Austrian Territory.
Nicholas lost his 1st wife and 2 infant sons to the Spanish Flu in 1918. He then moved to Wilmington, Delaware where he married Warwara (Barbara) Bukaj-Garbal-Chalus. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a pipe fitter.
