See also Bob's other identical posting, 7 Aug 2012, in the Ancestry.com Chamberlain Message Board site.Bob and I corresponded and shared data in 2004 and again in 2011, so we both have pretty much the same records, including the census data that he has posted for the two Joseph H. Chamberlains at this time. This person, Joseph Henry Chamberlain, born about 1806 in Maine, whose wife was Sarah/Sally Dunbar, is one of three presumed sons of John Chamberlain, born 1770-1780, place unknown [parents unknown], died after 1830, probably Pittsfield, Somerset Co., ME, whose wife is unknown.I'm posting as follows, my research notes for this John, which may be somewhat helpful to researchers:
NOTES
Identified only through census records. That this John Chamberlain was the father of Joseph H., as listed here, is somewhat speculative - based on the fact that both were residents of Pittsfield, Somerset Co., ME, and that Joseph H. is a good fit with the known census data for John in 1810, which lists 3 sons in this age bracket.James is also believed to be a son.Refer to lineage prepared by Naomi Koepsell-Jurgens, which lists Joseph H. as Joseph Henry Chamberlin, Sr., b. c1806, MA, son of John & Mary (Brown) Ch'n, in the William(1) line - JBP disagrees with this lineage.Naomi also lists Joseph H.'s brother John H., b. c1794, Clinton, Kennebec Co., ME, as the same person listed as John Jr. here.JBP is unsure which is correct.
Geographically, Pittsfield, in Pittsfield, Twp., Somerset Co., ME, lies just a few miles north of Burnham in Walco Co., along the Sebasticook River, with Clinton a few more miles s.w. in Kennebec Co.The village of Waverly is shown in the atlas as part of this city.Detroit is to the east, West Palmyra and Palmyra to the north, Phillips Corner and Mosher Corner to the west, and Nash corner to the s.w.
