In the January, 2005 issue of "Carolina Trees & Branches" is the following information from Pasquotank County Deed Book M:
"Division of Edmond Chancey's Land State of North Carolina, Pasquotank County, March Term 1791.to Thomas Reding, Joseph Reding, Jehu Cartwright, Enoch Relfe, & Jonathan PriceGentlemen, you are hereby required and appointed Commissioners by order of the court to Divide the Lands belonging to the Heirs of the late Edmond Chancey Esqr Dec'd agreeable to his Last Will and Testament..witness Enoch Relfe, Clerk of said Court at Nixonton the 26th day of March in the XV year of the Independence of America 1791Enoch Relfe signed CCC."
" We the Comissioners have divided the lands of Edmund Chancey Dec'd between his two sons Micajah Chancey and Edmund Chancey; and is particularly delineated in the above plot viz.That part which is shaded with yellow (no color on map in deed book) for Edmund Chancey and we further Say that Micajah Chancey shall have all the shed part of the dwelling house this 5th day of the 6th month 1792 by Jonathan Price4 Senr & Coms Enoch Relfe, signed; Tho. Reding, signed; Pasquotank County June Term 1792Reg 19th day 2d mo. Called Feby 1793 by Thomas Jordan P. Reg."
Nothing more on the Chanceys.
