I have been attempting to located my 5th great grandfather and have run into a serious brick wall. His name is Charter Mitchell b pre 1774. His children were born in the 1780's in Tazewell County, VA. I have decided to give something a try here. His first name is Charter, or at least we think that is his first name. It is the only one we have found for him. I am wondering if maybe his mother's maiden name might have been Charter. So, is there anyone out there who know's of a female, maiden name Charter who married a Mitchel or Mitchell in the early 1770's? The possible location is PA and we believe he may have been Scotch-Irish. Thanks.
