Hi Again, Marcella. I just answered one of your posts at the Chancey forum.

The Nancy S. B. Chauncey you are looking for may have been a daughter of Samuel Chauncey Jr. (1784 ~ 1868) and 'Nancy' MNU, but the census records do not indicate a daughter in this age group for Samuel Chauncey Sr., ( ca 1756 ~ ca 1833) son of Walley.

1790 census
Chancey, Samuel 2-2-2-0-7
2 males 16 and up.
2 males under 16
2 females (any age)
7 slaves

1800 census
Samuel and wife both between 26 and 45 years
2 males between 16 and 26, 2 males under 10 years no females other than his wife.

1810 census
Samuel and wife still between 26 and 45 years
2 males 10 to 16, 1 male under 10, 1 female 16 to 26

1820 census
Samuel over 45 no wife shown now
2 males 16 to 26, no females

So far, I have been unable to locate many of Samuel Jr's children, but his first wife's name was Nancy, m. ca 1806, so it would have been natural to have named a daughter after her. Samuel Jr's second wife was Mary Congleton, married on April 15, 1821 in Beaufort County. Samuel Jr's mother was Ann/Nancy Beaner (now Baynor) so, your Nancy S. B. Chauncey's name MAY have been Nancy Sarah? Beaner Chauncey. That is a wild guess you understand, but given the traditions for naming children in honor of parents, that may not be too far off.

Regards, Robert
