I do not have a "Hamp" Chancey/Chauncey in my data base. But, The Chanceys did not start to use the Chauncey as a surname until after the turn of the century.

I have a Wade Hampton Chancey, born May 02, 1842 died August 22, 1926 and married Ellie Altamyra Malinda Bullard in Ware County, Georgia on June 27, 1867.

Following is the military information for Wade Hampton that I have. I do not have anything showing he was captured and was a POW.

Chancey W. H. Capt. Clinch's Battery, Georgia L. Art'y. Private/Corporal (Notes 4 Ga. Cav.)

At cemetery a marker:

Wade H. Chauncey
Corp Clinch’s Batt
Ga Lt Arty
Confederate States Army
May 2, 1842 Aug. 22, 1926
