John S Chauncey born Delaware circa1790

Searching for information on John S [possibly Simpson] Chauncey. The 1850 census for Washington DC, Ward 6, states John was age 60 and was born in Delaware.

My g grandfather, William A Chauncey born 3/22/1841, is listed with John and Briget Chauncey's family in the 1850 and 1860 census. Cannot locate William's parents and assume he was orphaned. Family records give John's children [John Thomas, Lydia, and Emily or Emiline] as William's cousins. This leads me to believe that William's father and John S Chauncey were brothers.

Have lost contact with Mary Beth Graf. Are you there Mary Beth? It appears that this must be the same line as your Chaunceys of Alexandria.
