Wow, Cliff, this is fabulous stuff! Would you happen to have a death date for David's brother Daniel? I'm writing a book about William Walker's filibustering expedition from San Francisco to Baja California/Sonora in 1853-54. Interestingly, Daniel W. Chauncey was one of Walker's offices. I'd love to be able to track down exactly what happened to him. The fact that he became president of the Mechanics Bank suggests he was quite prominent.
