Sorry I have not gotten back with you.Been a busy summer. 3 new grandsons born and hubby had surgery.I am still going on the thought that my William M. Cheek's Father was James Cheek born in VA. about 1849. The Ricker File has him listed as the s/o James Cheek & manda/Amanda.I know it is him because he has his birthdate which is Nov. 12 1868. But he does not have James listed with any parents. Just some extra notes he had put in. I also belive there is a Waddle connection. Since William and wife Narcissa Doss named a son John Waddle Cheek. He is a SR. My Father-in-law was John Waddle Cheek JR. I have found MANY Cheek Waddle/Waddell Connection but none connect to mine so far. I just seem to go around & round. I remenber also my Father-in-law said several times that our Cheeks were Indian desent. He said that they left the Trail of Tears and after that did not WANT to be found. Not sure how much of that IS true. He streached the truth sometimes :) My Line of Cheek ended up in AR with William M. Cheek . He married into the Doss family around Franklin, Co. And Johnson, CO.Don't know how or when he ended up there.
Sure hope we can make a connecton. But I feel there is one since your line was also in McMinn Co Tn and from Lee CO Va.Don't have my notes infront of me but I belive That a James Cheek showed up in Lee co with father being Joseph.
As for as my Fry line that is thru my Mothers side. She was a Pugh. D/O Wiley Pugh. He had a sister that married a Fry. This was in AR.
get back with me let me know what you think.
